Call for abstracts
Abstract submissions are now open and will close on 27 November 2026.
The New Zealand Catholic Education Convention traditionally takes place every three years, bringing together more than 850 delegates, including educators, principals, school trustees, proprietors, Bishops, priests and representatives from across the national Catholic education system.
The theme for the Convention, Education in Hope: Forming Resilient Disciples in a Change of Era, reflects the important role of Catholic education in preparing young people to navigate a rapidly changing and uncertain world with faith, resilience and hope.
Convention seminars provide presenters with an opportunity to share their knowledge, experience and ideas with professionals and educationalists in a stimulating and engaging environment.
Seminars are 70 minutes in duration and are supported by a full suite of audio-visual technology.
We invite you to complete this application to present a seminar at the Convention. We are seeking 15 high-quality, engaging seminars that align with the Convention theme or explore topics relevant to Catholic education in Aotearoa New Zealand today.
The Convention seminars will be categorised under four streams:
- Catholic school board governance
- Catholic special character
- Religious Education and the wider curriculum
- The Church today
The National Catholic Education Convention planning committee will make the final decision on acceptance of abstracts.

- Abstract submission close | Monday 30 November 2026
- Abstract reviews close | Tuesday 15 December 2026
- Authors notified of submission outcome | Friday 12 February 2027
- Registration opens | Mid-February 2027
NZCEO notes
A condition of acceptance is that all presenting authors must register as conference attendees and pay the applicable registration fees. Presenting authors are responsible for arranging and covering their own travel, accommodation and any other associated costs.
By submitting a presentation, authors agree that it may be stored by the conference organisers and shared with conference attendees. Authors must confirm that the content is their own original work or that they have obtained all necessary permissions to use, store and share any third-party material, including images and text. All sources must be appropriately acknowledged.
